The 7th meeting of the coordinators of the Russia-OPEC Energy Dialogue, co-chaired by OPEC Secretary General Mohammed Barkindo and former Russian Energy Minister and now Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, was held on November 3, 2020 in the video conference format. The meeting was also attended by representatives of Gazprom Neft, who spoke about the work of the INTI (Institute for Initiatives in Oil and Gas Technologies) and invited foreign colleagues to join the industry initiative.

The participants of the dialogue presented their vision of the situation in the global oil market in the short, medium and long term, and also discussed the challenges that the industry faced in 2020. The discussion focused on the Energy Strategy of the Russian Federation until 2035 and potential areas of cooperation between the leading oil-producing countries, one of which could be the standardization and conformity assessment of oil and gas equipment.

Mikhail Kuznetsov, Head of the Department of Technological Partnerships and Import Substitution of Equipment and Technologies of Gazprom Neft, told the meeting participants about the activities of the Institute of Oil and Gas Technological Initiatives (INTI). He stressed that the organization, created for the joint work of the largest players in the oil industry on standardization and conformity assessment of equipment, invites Russian and foreign partners. Cooperation with UzbekNefteGaz from Uzbekistan has already begun, an agreement with ADNOC from the United Arab Emirates is being signed, and active negotiations are underway with KazMunayGas from Kazakhstan, Saudi Aramco from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.

Today, INTI offers Russian and foreign oil and gas companies observer status so that during the year they can send their experts to discuss the standards being developed, fully immerse themselves in the organization's activities, and then decide on participation. The Russia-OPEC Dialogue is a suitable platform for presenting the initiative and inviting foreign companies to the INTI. At the last meeting, Mohammed Barkindo supported this project, so now INTI is preparing materials for the Russian Ministry of Energy with more detailed information about the Institute for further initiating the development of cooperation with OPEC.

Irina Khaleeva, General Director of the Institute of Oil and Gas Technological Initiatives:

"INTI is actively working to attract new partners in the international market. The joint development of standardization documents with the oil and gas companies of the OPEC member countries will open access to Russian producers to the refining projects of our foreign partners. Producers from OPEC countries, in turn, will also have the opportunity to enter the Russian market."
